In 1981 Philip Thomas, Stephen Thomas and Warren Barry opened a 20 table bar/restaurant named "Uncle Sam's" in Springfield, VA. It was one of the first restaurant/bars in Northern Virginia and quickly became the most popular. Three years later the name changed from "Uncle Sam's" to "Kilroy's." When the drinking age changed from 18 to 21, the owners chose to change the bar image to a more family oriented restaurant/bar atmosphere. Kilroy's is privately owned. Our ability to maintain a great and close relationship with our customers keeps them coming back.
