W3Techs ForumAngelfire & Tripod services1682 on 30 March 2015, 10 years ago I understand that W3Tech's analysis process ignores domains that redirect and doesn't count subdomains as separate sites. However, I am interested to know what sort of level of usage Lycos free hosting solutions make up. Both angelfire.com and tripod.com redirect to angelfire.lycos.com and tripod.lycos.com respectively for registration and administration purposes but they register user's sites under those subdomains much like Google's Blogger which does administration under blogger.com but hosts sites under blogspot.com. I was wondering if these services really are statistically insignificant of CMSs or if this is an oversight in your analytics approach. Alexa ranks Angelfire at 5,224 globally and Tripod.com at 2,610 globally so I find it hard to believe their market share really is so small that they're not even listed in the "less than 0.1%". Thanks for all your hard work compiling these reports. Sam Soltano (site administrator) on 19 April 2015, 10 years ago We count that type of sites if 1) they have their own domain (not just example.blogspot.com) 2) this domain is in the top 10 million in the Alexa traffic ranking We will have a check whether Angelfire and Tripod allow hosting a site under a separate domain, and if so, we will include them in our statistics.
