Forum > Traffic Analysis Tools > Topic Traffic Analysis Tools ForumTraffic analysis toolsjoeyonetime on 30 March 2013, 12 years ago To be more useful, I think you should break out web stats programs vs analytics. Comparing Statcounter to Webtrends is unfair, and does not give a real sense of the market. The difference between these tools and the people who use them is significant. Tools like Omniture, Webtrends, Google analytics, and to some extent Piwik are tools that have advanced features such as reporting, export data, custom segments or allow customizing code. It's unfair to compare them to glorified hit counters that are found in your list.Sam Soltano (site administrator) on 30 March 2013, 12 years ago You do have a point here. However, we do not compare these tools in terms of how powerful they are, we only measure their usage. While it would be interesting to see various classes of tools, it is very difficult to identify clearly distinct categories of tools. When does a powerful web counter become an analytics tool? There is always a gray area between the categories. If we (or someone else) come up with a meaningful and non-controversial definition of categories, we would certainly want to show that here.
